A single barrel of crude oil has many uses and end consumers

Crude oil is a raw material than can produce a wide array of products, each playing a crucial role in our everyday lives. Trafigura sources, stores and supplies many of these petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, bitumen and heavy fuel oil. We also blend fuels to comply with environmental regulations and enhance their performance for end-users.

Delivering petroleum products to remote locations

Through our global network, we can reach remote locations with petroleum products essential to everyday life. To supply landlocked communities in Paraguay and Bolivia, our distillates team sources products from refineries around the world and ships them to the Campana Terminal at the mouth of the Rio Paraná in Argentina. Here, the product is unloaded and placed onto river barges for the journey inland via the Paraguay River. We are the largest importer of diesel and other middle distillate products on the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway.

ALTERNATIVE FUELS

Making aviation sustainable

In recognition of the role sustainable aviation fuel has to play in the decarbonisation of the global airline industry, we are working with companies across the supply chain to understand how we can help balance supply and demand for new fuels, utilising our logistics know-how and operational expertise.

This is part of a wider push to diversify our oil and petroleum business, offering new products to meet the needs of our customers. This includes biofuels, which can be blended with fossil fuels or used as a low-carbon alternative.

The Trafigura standard terms and conditions for sales and purchases of crude oil and petroleum products are neutral terms on which Trafigura buys and sells. The standard terms consist of (i) the BP Oil International Limited General Terms & Conditions for Sales and Purchases of Crude Oil and Petroleum Products 2015 and (ii) accompanying Trafigura Amendments, and are incorporated into all contracts for the sale and purchase of crude oil and petroleum products entered into by Trafigura Pte. Ltd
